You might think you’re too old for books with illustrations, but we promise that after you crack open a copy of Sam Grant’s The Opposite Sex: A Graphic Novel, you will change your mind. You’ll fall in love with the main character, an individual we will just call interesting, and your cartoon-deprived eyes will be grateful for Grant’s fun, quirky images. But we see you’re still on the fence about this whole graphic novel thing, thinking comic books are for nerds and teenagers. You couldn’t be more wrong.
“Without getting into personalities, lifestyle choices, or ethnic backgrounds, I’ve discovered that the main audience is people who want a good human-interest story. It’s a warm, touching story filled with humorous situations that eventually strikes a chord with everybody,” Grant says of his latest tome. If you’re still not convinced, grab your reading glasses and head to Books & Books in Coral Gables. You can see the writer, the book, and what you’ve been missing tonight at 8:00.
