Need an accountant? Go to Brickell. Need a lawyer, banker, or international trade expert? Brickell, Brickell, and more Brickell. But looking for a place to enjoy a wine and food festival with live entertainment? Brickell. Yeah, that’s right. Unless you’ve been trapped in an office building with no windows for the past decade, you’ve noticed that Brickell is no longer just the city’s financial district. Now it’s one of the Miami’s poshest residential neighborhoods. Restaurants sure noticed. They’ve flocked to the area, and it was just a matter of time till they gathered to celebrate its fabulousness during Saturday’s inaugural Taste of Brickell.
Taking its cue from Taste of the Grove, the Brickell event will bring together 50 area restaurants (e.g., Fadó, Morton’s, and Area 31), as well as wine and food vendors, plus throw in some R&B, Latin jazz, and Colombian singer Moris Rodriguez. Director Cynthia Bettner says such an event was overdue. “Brickell is a great area. The people are lovely, smart, and appreciate an event of this sort as they are affluent, educated, and of course culturally diverse,” she says in true flack fashion. She’s also right. Have you seen the bodies jogging along the street? Food is served at noon, and the concerts begin at 1 p.m. The festival will take place between the Jade and Mark condos. VIP passes cost $25 and include complimentary food and wine. Visit tasteofbrickell.com
