All families have drama. Some, like the McGrath sisters from Hazlehurst, Mississippi, might have more than others. Their mother hung herself, and her cat. One of them took aim at a husband to hide a secret, and the other, she’s got a great life and wonderful career—unfortunately it’s all in her head.
The best thing about Beth Henley’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Crimes of the Heart, is not the crazy stories that the McGrath sisters go through—though they are pretty kooky—it’s that watching them unfold is actually heartwarming.
