Reader support matters more than ever

We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.

Even the Antichrist loves Santa’s Enchanted Forest at Tropical Park. Hey, switch a couple of letters in the fat man’s name, and you’re talking about the lord of the underworld. Twenty-eight years into Tropical Park’s festival of a million lights, “Let’s go to Santa’s” is still a rallying cry across Dade for amazing pizza, nooky on the Ferris wheel, and screaming through the thrill rides. Whether you’re there with a church group, your girlfriend, or her girlfriend, you’re bound to have a good time. Among bungee jumping, the Mega Drop, the Extreme Ejector Seat, and the roller coaster, there are enough adrenaline spikes to keep even the most war-jaded Marine smiling. And with more games and sideshows than you can throw a bucket of turkey legs at, wimps prone to emetophobia (fear of vomiting) can have their safe fun too. We hear the carnies manning the ring toss are honest as the day is long, and Adam Burke’s tiger show probably won’t end in disaster.

Mondays-Sundays, 5 p.m. Starts: Nov. 4. Continues through Jan. 2, 2010
