Haven’t yet made it out to see the newly christened Miami Marlins play at Marlins Park (501 Marlins Way, Miami)? Do you want to see the home-run sculpture light up, but need a little something extra to motivate you to buy tickets? Well, you’re in luck this Friday, when the Marlins regular season gets overshadowed by a postgame concert by rap sensation Flo Rida. Sure, the Marlins may not be a team with long-heralded traditions like the Cubs, Yankees, or Red Sox. But for our money, the Marlins’ postgame concert series doesn’t nearly get the respect it deserves. One day we’ll all look back on them with the same fondness our fathers have for five-cent Cracker Jacks. The Marlins aren’t the best team in the league, or their division, for that matter. But with Flo Rida guaranteed to play hits like “Low” and “Right Round,” you can’t fault the organization for trying to send fans home happy one way or another.
