It is the distinct feeling you get when watching bodies in motion, leaping across, writhing upon, and treading softly on the stage. You long for their flexibility and envy their strength. Prepare to feel those pangs at the launch of Momentum Dance Company’s 25th-anniversary season, featuring the Florida premiere of José Limón’s The Exiles, the visually enticing Sand Calendar, and the world premieres of two new works.

Momentum is known for consistently creating and executing provocative works, and this year’s showing will not disappoint. The company will perform one of modern dance’s classics, The Exiles, an interpretation of Adam and Eve’s Garden of Eden eviction. Expect something a little different with Parsing the Curve, in which a soloist in her second trimester of pregnancy reveals the pleasures of new motherhood — mind, body, and soul. Sand Calendar features a woman in an uninterrupted rain of white sand. The performances take place Friday and Saturday night at 8:00 at the Colony Theater.
Sat., Dec. 2, 8 p.m.
