Homestead, Florida, has always maintained a more countrified vibe than its city-mouse cousin Miami to the north — which makes it the perfect place to eat ribs and listen to live country music.
This Saturday and Sunday, the second annual Blues, Brews & Barbecue Festival will turn the Fruit & Spice Park, best known for housing more than 500 varieties of fruit, herbs, vegetables, and nuts, into one giant hootenanny.
The park’s lakeside area will feature ribs, chicken, and brisket for sale from local restaurants including Huckleberry Hillbilly BBQ, M&M Barbecue, and Smoke n’ Spice BBQ. Wash down those dry-rubbed baby-backs with some frozen lemonade or a beer or two.
Country and blues bands performing continuously during the two-day party include Pit Bull Blues Band, the Jay Blues Band, Blackstar, and the Matt Mansfield Band.
Unless CMT’s My Big Redneck Wedding has steered us wrong, it’s not a down-home party without ponies and NASCAR. So naturally, Blues, Brews & Barbecue will also have a petting zoo and an interactive zone sponsored by Homestead-Miami Speedway.
