There are several ways to look for a silver and teal lining in the dark cloud that is the bargain-basement-dwelling Florida Marlins. We get to root for an underdog. Maybe the team will set a record for worst season ever. Perhaps they will begin paying fans to attend games. In any case, a day at the ballpark — no matter who plays, how marginal the performances, or which team wins — remains a wonderful way to spend a spring day in South Florida. And such opportunities might end soon — the Marlins could be moving to San Antonio. (Go, Marlins?) The team must commit to the relocation within three weeks. This is something of a logical progression: Instead of winning the World Series and then getting rid of most of the players, we will likely offload the entire team. The Texas judge who assigned the deadline has said, “We need to fish or cut bait by May 15.” The fairly decent Colorado Rockies are in town for a three game series culminating in today’s 1:05 p.m. matchup. Tickets range from $6 to $90. Call 1-877-MARLINS, or visit florida.marlins.mlb.com.
