Although this year’s Super Bowl ads were sorely lacking in hilarity, a world of raucous fun in advertising is waiting for you in The Night of the Ad-Eaters. Presented by Alliance Française of Miami/Fort Lauderdale, with support from Le Soleil de La Floride, the two-hour subtitled commercial marathon features more than 200 ads from 50 different countries. (We’re big fans of the full-frontal nudity in the Brazilian ads.) Preceding the screening is a lecture by Philippe Lentschener, CEO of the Saatchi & Saatchi France advertising agency. No worries if you don’t parlez Française; the lecture — titled “Is There a Specificity of European Advertising?” — will be presented in English. Just be sure to take a bathroom break before the show because you will want to sit through these commercials. The ad blitz begins at 7:00 at the Museum of Science and Planetarium. Admission is $20, $15 for Alliance Française and museum members, and crêpes and beverages will be available for purchase. Call 305-859-8760, or visit www.afmiami.org for tickets. For a sneak peek at some of the hilarious ads (we recommend the ones for condoms), visit www.adeater.com.
