Do something good for man’s best friend and drink like there’s no tomorrow at the Faktura Pet Project’s Yappy Hour Fundraiser. Faktura Pet Rescue, a branch of local artist Jacquelyn Johnston’s nonprofit organization Faktura Projects, is a group of dedicated, compassionate individuals committed to rescuing dogs from extreme situations and working diligently to nurse them back to health. This event marks the one-year anniversary of the miraculous rescue of the lovely Lazlo. “We’ve seen people throw battery acid on dogs and beat them bloody … but Lazlo was one of the most extreme cases of animal abuse I’ve ever seen. He’s shown such amazing strength of character,” says Johnston.
Thanks to Faktura, lucky Lazlo was saved from being burned alive. Now he’s a happy, furry, and friendly love machine. He has a great forever home, but he’ll be celebrating along with several other four-legged friends who are still in need of good homes. Yappy Hour will feature two-for-one drink specials and raffles for doggy goody bags and other canine-related giveaways (from homemade treats to T-shirts to a free gym membership). All proceeds go to Faktura’s effort to save more doggies like Lazlo. So shake a tail and stir your drinks from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the New Moon Bar.
