When two stars collide musically, it’s nearly impossible for the fruits of their labor to be anything less than amazing. Put this into the perspective of food: We all know that peanut butter and jelly are pretty tasty solo, but smash them together and we get the greatest thing to hit sliced bread since, well … you get it. This is why we suggest that you run — don’t walk — to the Hard Rock Live tonight at 8:00 for one of music’s greatest combos, smooth-jazz giants George Benson and Al Jarreau.
They’re both famous for decades-long solo careers that produced legendary songs, but in 2006 they joined forces for a new album, Givin’ It Up. The recording features the two legends remaking each others’ hits, Jarreau scatting where Benson’s jazz guitar once strummed, and Benson riffing where Jarreau’s vocals performed acrobatics. Tonight for $50 you can hear it live.
