The vibe in your cubicle is monotone and blah, but today you can skip out of work and find yourself at a place where jungle kitties and vines climb the walls, and a Latin jazz band floats velvety-soft tunes through the air. Jaguar Ceviche Spoon Bar and Latam Grill (3067 Grand Ave., Coconut Grove) serves up Latin American goodies seven days a week, but today’s Thirsty Thursdays is your chance to dedicate the night to the eatery’s specialty — ceviches “by the spoon.”
Try the Tiger Shrimp Verde: a blend of bright citrus flavors, avocado, spicy jalapeño, and cilantro, finished with guajillo chili oil and jicama; or maybe the Nuevo: a Japanese sushi chef’s take on classic ceviche. The grub is — you guessed it — served on ceramic spoons and meant to be eaten in one or two slurps, giving you just enough flavor to savor before you move on to the next taste. And if seafood cooked in the acid of oranges, lemons, and limes isn’t your thing, try the steak, chicken, and pork skewers, grilled in a variety of salsas and chimichurris. The spooning happens from 7 to 8:30 every Thursday evening, and it’ll set you back only 15 bucks.
