Reader support matters more than ever

We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.

$10,000

Purchase a seat at the Rennie Harris Awe-inspiring Works (RHAW) showcase, but don’t expect to sit in it; the young adult and teen hip-hop company has been known to move audiences to their feet. With boundless energy, passion, and commitment to form, RHAW dancers contribute individual talents to a variety of dramatic pieces, shaped by choreographers Rennie Harris and Rodney Hill, among others. Harris brought hip-hop dance to concert stages nearly 20 years ago with his main company, Rennie Harris and Puremovement, before forming RHAW in 2007.
The Philadelphia-based company employs locking, popping, boogaloo, b-boy/girl, house, and hip-hop dance. It also focuses on education, offering master classes and lecture-demonstrations on hip-hop’s roots. RHAW will bring its skills to Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 and 7 p.m.

Feb. 10-12, 8 p.m.; Sun., Feb. 13, 2 & 8 p.m., 2011
