Who better to follow up Ida Engberg’s superb performance at Space last Saturday night than esteemed fellow DJ dominatrix Misstress Barbara? Sicilian-born Montrealer Barbara Bonfiglio has been a staple of the international techno scene for more than a decade, boasting a distinctive DJing style and compelling repertoire of original releases that have made her one of the most sought-after electronic artists in the world.
Widely known for her self-described “funky pumpin’ techno,” she has evolved her sound to an emotive and lyrical songcraft more akin to synth pop than techno, as displayed on her striking debut artist album, I’m No Human, on Maple Music Recordings. Misstress Barbara will play her Space debut at the Techno Loft this Saturday night, along with resident DJs Maurizio & Danyelino and Dsan Powell. Miami is in for a night of decidedly different and refreshing dance-floor fare with Barbara on the decks.
