Though Global Communication’s Mark Pritchard might have borrowed Dabrye’s “No Child of God (Instrumental)” for Fabric 26‘s striking opener, as he borrowed the records used in his impressively selected end of the mix, it still might be the best choice here. A healthy interest in lesser-discussed MCs spices up Pritchard’s subsequent picks for the UK production duo’s series entry, and a trippy Madlib-crafted number from MED dares not disturb the first half’s drunken feel. Danny Breaks’s scratch-heavy experiments and Wajeed’s spacey “Starz” commandeer the after-party blitz early on, illuminating Global’s segue into the mix’s club-ready portion at the end of Trickski’s synth-play in “Sunshine Fu*k Part 1.” In busy pulses, Audiomontage’s syrupy “Vision 2 Vision” is a pleasant slice of deep house, and Global member Tom Middleton drops colorful Ulrich Schnauss-style atmospherics in his own “Margherita.” After the standard sci-fi intro for the first act of Fabric 26, Dabrye’s sharp synth and drum clap in “No Child of God (Instrumental)” inevitably call for the repeat button, which leads to a significant delay in playing the other tracks.
