“Everybody knows your baby done left you,” says Eric Garcia, lead singer and harp player for Juke, “but we want to do something more.” And thus is Juke. The local group feels the heart of the blues but adds a raw, groove-oriented, swampy indie style. The bandmates feed off one another to create a unique, intentionally sloppy sound that, as Garcia puts it, is “hippin’ up the blues.”

Influenced by RL Burnside, the Black Keys, Howlin’ Wolf, and Little Walter, Juke feels it. A self-taught musician, Garcia cradles the harp and owns the sound. But the band is only completed by Erik Broberg tearing up the slide guitar, Michael Feinberg playing bass, and Ulysses Perez on drums.
