If there was a figurehead for Miami’s rock en español scene, it would be Sóniko. Since releasing their crunchy debut Kombustion last year, the enterprising quartet has become a fixture on MTV Latin America with its nimble blend of hook-laden pop-punk and metallic rock. Thanks to a close association with their label Fabrika Music (which recently signed a national and Puerto Rico distribution deal with J&N Records), and a long affiliation with the weekly Fabrika party at La Covacha, Sóniko has introduced many a national touring act to the city. But tonight, the band will be leading a local slate of up-and-coming acts, including Nothing Rhymes With Orange, eL, and Monte*Rosa.
