The old boating refrain “the two best days of a boat owner’s life are the day he buys a boat and the day he sells it” needs some updating. You can probably add to that list several more days, this Thursday through Monday to be specific, the dates of this year’s Miami International Boat Show. Now in its 70th year, the show is one of the world’s largest boating events, with thousands of boats arriving in town and joining the thousands that are already parked here. More than 2,000 manufacturers will showcase the latest in depth sounders, outboard motors, and all the other gear only a boat-head could get excited about. This year’s show features “Be a Diver Scuba Pool,” where anyone aged ten and older can test new scuba equipment and have their picture taken underwater. Think you can’t afford a boat? Sail into Affordability Pavilion to find boats — and not just dinghies — you can finance for as little as $250 a month. The boat show is held at three venues: Miami Beach Convention Center, Miamarina at Bayside (400 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) for Strictly Sail Miami, and Sea Isle Marina & Yachting Center (1635 N. Bayshore Dr., Miami), where there will be an in-water display.
