One Miami Heat player got lost in all the hoopla surrounding the team this past summer. A couple of years ago, he was seen as hope for the future of the team. But that dream was extinguished faster than the joints he smoked. Were talking about Michael Beasley, the Heats first pick, and second overall, in the 2008 NBA Draft. Beasley never fulfilled his potential (his new general manager says it was because he smoked too much dope while in South Beach), and the team was forced to dump him and his salary to clear space for the Three Amigos (are you as tired of these silly monikers as we are?) during the off-season.
Itll be interesting to see whether Miami fans jeer Beasley when he returns to the American Airlines Arena this Tuesday after being banished to the wasteland of the NBA universe otherwise known as the Minnesota Timberwolves, or if they show empathy for an unproven talent who lost his shot at basketball immortality. Were betting on the former.
