The latest in a string of hot new eateries from chef and restaurateur Matthew Kenney, Plant Food + Wine is making its debut in Wynwood Monday, February 29.

The plant-based eatery will serve small and large plates, organic cocktails and juices, and fresh, healthy desserts. The menu will highlight local produce, and though Kenney is known for his raw cuisine, the restaurant will also offer cooked options.

Kenney calls it "the most beautiful restaurant I've ever worked on."

Some of Plant's intriguing menu items include watermelon poke with ponzu-lime, tamari, macadamia, ginger, and mint; romanesco cauliflower with salsa verde, toasted pepita cream, and preserved lime; black pepper kelp noodles with sunflower cream, spicy greens, green olive purée, and sun-dried olives; coconut ceviche “tacos” made with sunflower chorizo, avocado, pico de gallo, and lime crema.; and "compress pina," a coconut sorbet with candied macadamia and basil consommé.

The eatery will also feature a bar serving  juices and detox drinks, seasonally sourced cocktails, plus organic and biodynamic wine and sake.

"The menu crafted with chef and director of culinary operations Scott Winegard will connect with all kinds of diners," Kenney says. "For those who follow a strict vegan diet, we hope to become a place that they visit regularly and even consider joining us for our culinary academy classes to learn more about our dishes and techniques. For those who enjoy a general protein diet, we see Plant Food + Wine as a new restaurant option in Miami where guests can explore what the plant-based food world has to offer in an approachable setting. All in all, we think the menu offers something for everyone, no matter their dietary preferences."

Plant was developed in partnership with Karla Dascal (founder of the Sacred Space Miami) and is adjacent to Kenney's raw culinary school, Matthew Kenney Culinary Miami, which opened in January 2015.

"Working with a visionary architect like Rene Gonzalez was a dream come true, and the Sacred Space Miami made for the perfect setting, one that speaks to personal growth, fulfillment, and healthy living," Kenney says. "Restaurants should offer a multisensory experience – taste, sight, touch, smell, sound; all of the elements will be a part of dining at Plant Food + Wine. There is a natural synergy between the space’s vibrant setting, the inspired menu, and the sights and sounds of this great city."

Last year, Kenney also opened a Plant Food + Wine location in Venice and recently launched a plant-based pizza concept in NYC — OO+Co — so he's on a roll with new restaurants. He'll also host the Future of Food dinner with Winegard and Jamie Bissonnette at the South Beach Wine & Food Festival Saturday, February 27, onsite at his new eatery, so you can be one of the first to experience the chic new space.

Plant Food + Wine opens Monday, February 29, at 105 NE 24th St., Miami. Visit plantfoodandwinemiami.com or call 305-814-5365.
