Dear University of Miami fans, friends, and alumni: There has been some friendly criticism from the national media concerning the lack of attendance at Hurricanes football games this season. Silly national media. They didn’t realize this is just some sort of practical joke, obviously, by the clever football folks of Miami. You see, national media, fans are just waiting for the perfect moment to unveil their ranks in a massive, uh, hurricane of support for their favorite university football team. And what better opportunity to do so than Hispanic Heritage Day at Sun Life Stadium (347 Don Shula Dr., Miami Gardens). What’s that? This Saturday? Yes, it will be Hispanic Heritage Day when the Miami Hurricanes take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. And this is the official, printed announcement declaring that the joke is over. UM fans can come out of hiding now. So see you Saturday, right? Because if Hispanic UNC fans outnumber Hispanic UM fans at the stadium the day Miami celebrates Hispanic Heritage Day — well, that would be really embarrassing.
