Beer, Brats, and Beats

That refreshing breeze wafting through Miami means fall is finally upon us. The Kiwanis Club of Little Havana will kick off this glorious season with Oktoberfest at Art in the Park, a weekend-long celebration of art, music, food, and beer. Head to Ponce Circle Park for this Bavarian-themed festival and feast on German staples of beer, pretzels, and bratwurst. But that’s where the Deutschland connection ends. Friday boasts a decidedly Miami-style concert lineup: Fusik will provide the soundtrack for an epic b-boy dance competition, while Shamarr Allen and Conjunto Progreso will bring their respective genre-defying sounds to the stage. On Saturday, Hal Roland and his band of dueling piano men will spend the day tickling ivories. Celebrate the sudden gusts of wind with free beer, German food, and Miami music. Commemorate the day by buying some art; event proceeds will raise money for the Kiwanis Club Arts & Music Foundation scholarship fund, making Art in the Park a rare opportunity to preserve art, stuff your face, and drink beer. The free party starts Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m
Oct. 1-2, 7 p.m., 2010
