More About

We like to have dinner with friends who believe we should love animals, not eat them. Yes, other folks would argue they taste good and that vegetarian is just a Native American word for “bad hunter,” but we’ve seen the photos and read accounts of bad farming practices. Cows, chickens, pigs, sheep, and other animals are crowded into factory farm warehouses without room to move, walk, or even lie down. Animals have been de-beaked, de-toed, confined, and neglected with no fresh air or freedom. Each year Farm Sanctuary rehabilitates and provides lifelong care to the hundreds of animals the nonprofit organization has rescued from factory farms, stockyards, and slaughterhouses. You can help raise awareness of inhumane farming practices and encourage cruelty-free alternatives by participating in today’s Walk for Farm Animals. Registration begins at 3:00 p.m. in the outside courtyard of the Museum of Discovery and Science, and the walk begins at 4:00. Registration costs ten dollars. Call 607-583-2225, or visit www.farmsanctuary.org.
