In 1994, Two Chefs was a combination cooking school and gourmet retail outlet in South Miami. Two years later chef/owners Jan Jorgensen and Soren Bredahl opened the cozy, 100-seat restaurant at the same site. Soren has since returned to Denmark, the wine list has expanded, prices have gone up a bit, and the spirits collection has grown into Miami’s best, but otherwise Two Chefs is still turning out pretty much the same homespun American food with modern, global, often upscale twists. Jorgensen, the remaining Dane, is marking his bistro’s 11th birthday by offering 10 of his most popular dishes for $10 each. The special menu will include lobster bisque; carpaccio with black truffle croquette and caper berries; escargot pot pie; shiitake and goat cheese flatbread; BBQ meatloaf with horseradish mashed potatoes; and Two Chefs’ signature chocolate soufflé.
The eleven day “10 for 10” begins Monday, September 10, and runs until Friday, September 20. Two Chefs is located at 8287 S. Dixie Hwy., South Miami; 305-663-2100. Two Chefs Too is being readied to open at NE 123rd Street in North Miami. --Lee Klein
