This Week's Best Eats and Drinks: Free Miami Spice Dinner at Red and Happy Hour at 660

If you're still hungover from National Rum Day this Saturday, it was a successful weekend indeed. Too bad you have to go to work today and be a regular person. Good thing for you there's plenty of stuff going on this week to make it feel like a perpetual weekend.

Win a Spice Dinner at Red

There are plenty of places participating in Miami Spice, but how many are giving away a dinner for two every week? We know of one -- Red the Steakhouse. Every Monday through Friday, chef Peter Vauthy will post a question a day on his Twitter feed, @redsteakhouse. Correctly answering enters you into the weekly drawing. You might want to brush up on your knowledge of the menu because questions are a test on Vauthy's culinary creations, such as "What spice is used in the lobster fra diavolo pasta dish that gives the brother devil sauce a kick?"

New Dishes at Orange Blossom

Besides offering a fantastic happy hour every day (cocktails and appetizers are just $6), Orange Blossom also has some delicious new seasonal dishes: giant scallops with baby cauliflower, romanesco, turnip purée, and raisin ($26); Florida black grouper with Parmesan risotto and porcini mushrooms ($28); and summer vegetable farro risotto with yellow pea shoots and herb butter ($16). Pair your meal with their new cocktail, the Return of the Rum Runner.


Dinner and a Movie at Sushi Samba

Last month, Sushi Samba Coral Gables launched the Samba and a Movie series for film buffs and foodies where guests can chow down at Sushi Samba and then kick back at Gables Cinema. It returns this week with Woody Allen's Magic in the Moonlight, starring the simply irresistible Emma Stone and Colin Firth. To go with the romantic theme of the evening, chef David Sears will serve a pretty robust menu. Some standouts include spiced corn cappuccino with shichimi dust, truffle froth, grated catupiry cheese sandwich, and the namesake dish Magic in the Moonlight Maki with mango, asparagus, shrimp, avocado, spicy crunch, spicy truffle salmon, red jalapeño, and microcilantro. Samba and a Movie costs $39 per person for a three-course prix fixe and film (including tax but excluding gratuity). Guests can eat before of after showtimes.

oakAOC Continues at Oak Tavern

David Bracha's global tour through the world of wine and food continues this week with Italy -- Piedmont to be more specific. From 6 to 10 p.m., nosh on two small plates and two glasses of wine for just $25. On the menu for the evening: ravioli with organic egg, Parmesan, and shaved truffle and a porchetta di testa.


Eat. Drink. Lounge. at 660

660 at the Angler's is changing things up with a new weekly Wednesday happy hour dubbed Eat.Drink.Lounge from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The theme changes weekly, as do food and cocktail specials to go along with the motif. Peru is this week's theme, which means there will be pisco sours and mixed ceviche for only $6.


Dueling Dishes at Balans

Always wanted to have a say over what goes on a restaurant's menu? Now is your chance. Head to Balans on Biscayne Boulevard this and every Thursday through the end of September for the culinary conundrum and internal battle Dueling Dishes. For $30, you can sample two distinct courses, each paired with a libation made specifically for that evening. The dishes with the most positive feedback at the end of September will be announced and added to the new fall menu. RSVP also enters your name into a weekly raffle for a chance to win $50, so if your dish doesn't win, at least maybe you will.
