The corner of Biscayne Boulevard and NE 64th Street is about to become a caffeine mecca. Starbucks opens this week, and Panther Coffee later on this year.
The brand new state-of-the-art Starbucks, located at 6320 Biscayne Blvd., replaces the old store on 69th Street and Biscayne. That Starbucks has already closed in order to complete the transition of some equipment to the new space. In case you're a neighborhood local who frequents that store, you'll be happy to know your favorite baristas have been transferred to the new location.
The new Starbucks is set to open on Friday, July 24. The 1,750-square-foot space will feature tall ceilings with floor-to-ceiling windows, generous indoor and outdoor seating, and vintage details to fit with its MiMo architecture. Most importantly, the new location offers a drive-through window, perfect for your morning commute down Biscayne Boulevard.

In addition to the usual coffees, pastries, and Frappuccinos, the new location will sell Starbucks Reserve coffee, prepared with the company's Clover brewing system. This new Starbucks is the only the third Miami-Dade shop to offer these special coffees from small farms. Currently, Starbucks Reserve coffees are sold at 601 Lincoln Rd. in Miami Beach and at 200 Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. In case you're wondering which coffee is best for you, the store will have specially trained coffee masters on hand to assist you.
Starbucks will be joined this fall by Panther Coffee, just across the street on the northeast corner of 64th and Biscayne. According to Panther's Leticia Pollock, the city's permitting process is just being finalized and the shop should be open in time for Art Basel. "We've very excited to be a part of all the positive changes in this neighborhood and we're please to be joining all the great restaurants that have just opened like Ms. Cheezious and Vagabond." The popular java house just opened its third location in Coconut Grove, with plans for a Little Haiti location, as well.
The MiMo Starbucks will open at 5:30 a.m. daily. No word yet on Panther's hours.
