Beginning next Tuesday evening, June 1, and continuing on succeeding Tuesdays, Sra. Martinez will be cooking up an all-you-can-eat Cuban pig roast. The slow-cooked-in-a-caja China porker is due to be accompanied by heirloom tomato salad, roasted fingerling potatoes, and other side dishes -- all served family style. The menu will vary week to week. "We wanted to give classic caja China backyard barbecue an upscale spin," says Bernstein. Which reminds us: Price is $35 plus tax and tip.

Wednesday evening, June 16, Texas de Brazil will hold a Louis XIII de Rémy Martin Dinner. The reception and four-course menu starts with Rémy Martin VSOP/ginger cocktails before a first course of salmon tartare paired with frozen Rémy Martin VSOP. Watercress endive salad and churrasco of tenderloin comprise the next two courses, respectively paired with a Chardonnay and Syrah from Bearboat. Dessert is a Brazilian espresso caramel flan with fruits and Rémy Martin XO. The Louis XIII Grande Champagne "cognac experience" serves as the glorious finale.  The event will start at 7 p.m., $125 per person (all inclusive). RSVP and deposit required. 305-695-7702.

Starting next Thursday  evening, June 3, and continuing through September, Area 31 will begin its Hot Summer Nights program. Attractions include $5 cocktails such as the Exhale Lemonade (an antioxidant cocktail with Veev's Acai Spirit, Absolut, cranberry) and snack foods ($5 to $11) including assorted ceviche, smoked kingfish croquettes, a chef's plate of smoked and cured meats and seafoods, and so forth. So head on down -- or shall we say up -- to the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel, any Thursday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Starting next week, that is. For details call 305-424-5234.
