Ahh, ceviche. You truly deserve your own holiday. Soaking in citrus and spice, this is one of South Florida's favorite dishes to slurp down. Lucky for us, it's never hard to come by -- it's even sold out of the back of people's trucks down here. If you prefer to celebrate National Ceviche Day this Saturday with a little ambiance, however, Miami's got several places with specials and deals to better enjoy the Peruvian signature.
A 2014 Best of Miami winner, Bar Crudo has prepared three ceviche specials for the holiday, available all weekend. Beginning today through Sunday, diners can select Bay scallops with orange, compressed cucumber, and pickled mustard seeds ($13); Flounder with lime, carrot, jicama, and white miso espuma ($12), and shrimp, avocado, aji amarillo, orange, and bib lettuce. The regular mixed ceviche ($15) also will be available and includes octopus; snapper; yuvu; verju; cucumber; orange, and black sesame.
This Coconut Grove eatery features a pretty ceviche sampler platter that serves two. For $20, you and your bestie or date can dine on choros a la chalaca, lobster tail ceviche, and ceviche tostadas stuffed with ceviche peruano and ceviche los cabos.
Fish fans can get deals at My Ceviche at Brickell and South Beach locations this weekend, with 15 percent off ceviches Saturday. While the deal isn't valid for the signature ceviche bowl, guests can choose from the medium ($11.75) or large ($14.75) ceviches, which come in traditional styles and unique offerings like Asian (shrimp or fish with Florida citrus juices; soy; Thai Chiles; red onions; cilantro; radishes; seaweed, and mango).
Traymore is celebrating ceviche with three days of tastes. Starting today and continuing through Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m., the Miami Beach restaurant will offer specials prepared by Peruvian ceviche chef Miguel Puelles and discounts on selected beverages. Diners can choose from a single portion for $5 or a platter of three different ceviches for $12. Pisco sours and Nolet Silver gin & tonics will be available half-priced, along with discounted valet.
