Happy Friday. If you've been inside just about any store, you've noticed pumpkins, ghouls, and candy on display -- which means that Miami is gearing up for fall -- even though it's still about a grillion degrees outside.

With fall come some amazing activities like football (and tailgates!), walks in the garden (with rare tropical fruit), and punching the hell out of something (followed by lunch and cocktails). Sounds amazing!

Tailgating with Pizza

The University of Miami Hurricanes play Arkansas State on Saturday and if you're going to the game you've got to tailgate beforehand. You could do the usual burgers and hot dogs, or you could try Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza's Italian Tailgate party. For $13 per person, you get a well-done traditional or specialty pizza, Anthony's classic Italian salad, large hand-rolled meatballs, coal oven-roasted chicken wings, and pork spare ribs with vinegar peppers for $13 per person (minimum order of 10 people). How did they come up with the price? Inspiration from Miami Dolphin Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino, who wore number 13 on his jersey -- and who happens to be a partner at Anthony's. Speaking of Dolphins, this deal would work equally well at a home watch party. The deal is good at all Anthony's locations. Just call at least an hour in advance.

Jackfruit Jubilee

Celebrate the Jackfruit, that Godzilla of tropical goodness, at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden this Saturday, September 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You'll get to try out the world's largest fruit., which tastes like a mixture of banana, pineapple, and Juicy Fruit gum. In addition to tastings, there are cooking demos, tree sales, and other fun activities. Admission is $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and older, and $12 for children ages 6 to 17; Fairchild members and children 5 and younger get in free.

Box and Lunch

Have you seen how svelte Miami chefs are looking these days? That's because of the Fit to Fight Challenge, where a group of our top toques are working out and raising money for Live to Fight, a non-profit organization that supports people suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Want to help out (and work out)? This Sunday, join MC Kitchen's Dena Marino and Meat Market's Sean Brasel for Box and Lunch, which is oh-so-much-different that a boxed lunch. At 11:30 a.m. you'll train with former Miami Dolphins tight end Jason Rader at Sobekick , where you can take the week's aggressions out on various bags as you punch and kick your way to zen and fitness. Then, at 1:30 p.m., you'll refuel at Meat Market with a special lunch, paired with skinny cocktails. Just $60 (excluding tax and gratuity) gets you both, and the money benefits Fit to Fight. If you're ready to "box and brunch," reservations can be secured by calling 305-532-0088.
