What do you do during the weeks where nothing is going on after work? Don't know?

That's because that's never the case. We're lucky that the Magic City is one of the most social cats in the country and she's always got something up her sleeve to get you off the couch and onto the streets.

This week, Grovetoberfest is throwing its seventh and final free beer tasting, the Craft Spirits Festival will be offering up the finest of small batch spirits from around the country, and we're even throwing a benefit in memory of one of our own from New Times.

Don't plan to do nothing this week, Miami.

Final Grovetoberfest Beer Tasting - Monday

Grovetoberfest gets the award for Best Events Leading Up To the Actual Event this year. No one festival has put on more teasers like the brains behind this month's Grovetoberfest. For the last push of momentum, The Grove Spot will be playing host to a free beer tasting on Monday October 7 showcasing the last set of local craft brewers that will play a role in Grovetoberfest. The free beer will last from 6 to 8 p.m., so get there early and bring a friend.

Craft Spirits Festival - Thursday

Much like Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, the Craft Spirits Festival looks to shed light on the small-batch and limited edition spirits made across the country. The Cruz Building will host the event on October 10 from 8 to 11 p.m. Attendees will sample over two dozen brands of craft and premium spirits including whiskies, rums, and vodkas made in small, limited edition batches. General Admission tickets cost $75, VIP costs $95 and allows entry one hour early (at 7p.m.). New Times readers can get $20 off their VIP ticket using the promo code MNT at checkout. You can buy your tickets here.

The Great Grove Bed Race "Get Rolling Gathering" - Thursday

Here's a genius idea for those planning on participating the the Grove's annual Bed Race: Head to Acropolis Greek Taverna; walk in and get a free glass of sangria; walk in and sign your bed's name at the door and score an inch for your team. One inch per guest -- so bring the whole team! Your rickety sleeper on wheels may have a shot at winning if you bring 6 people and snag 6 inches at the starting line. Attendees will also be privy to a prix fixed menu with more sangria and 10% dinner tabs to Dress for Success Miami.

David's Benefit - Thursday

We all work really hard here at New Times. We bust our asses together and face hardships together and win together and do everything in between together. And since we're so accustomed to seeing the same faces day in and day out -- much of the time more than we see our own families -- we become family. That's why, when we lost David Dubrow in August, it hit too close to home to just sit around and do nothing about it. Come join us in honoring our boy at his favorite spot by the office: Wood Tavern will be hosting a benefit in memory of David on October 10 at 6 p.m.; we'll have raffles and silent auctions and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Bridgeport Hospital Foundation where David was cared for. We'll see you there for a toast.
