For the second year in a row, the Luckyrice Festival is making its way to Miami with Eastern-inspired food, cocktails, and jaw-dropping decor.
This unique soiree will feature edible creations by 30 big-name chefs, mixologists, and eateries including Masaharu Morimoto, Restaurant Michael Schwartz, and Juvia, among others. They'll dish up Asian-meets-Latino nibbles and internationally-influenced cocktails in swanky, beachfront digs.
In addition to Miami, the festival tours in four other cities: New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. And while the 305 may not have a huge Asian population compared to say, Los Angeles, many of our best restaurants are Asian-inspired, festival co-founder Danielle Chang says.
"Miami has such a great dining culture, but I think it's probably the last place you would think of when you think of Asian food in America," Chang says.
Last year, the festival set up shop at the Soho Beach House, but this year they wanted to move onto something bigger, says Chang -- so the Raleigh Hotel it was.
"We're transforming that whole area into like an Asian night market feel," Chang says. "It's so magical to be able to have Asian street food with the sounds of the ocean, with your toes in the sand. That's the particular kind of ambience we're going for."
They'll have eight mixologists mixing up 16 custom cocktails using Bombay Sapphire East and various other spirits. They'll also dish out Asahi Beer, wines from Bordeaux, Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte, and Bruce Cost ginger ales.
Cocktails are huge this year, Chang says. Bombay Sapphire East is made with Thai lemongrass and Vietnamese black peppercorn, and they'll be pairing that with other interesting inclusions.
And, to make it even more Miami-esque, chefs are being asked to create Asian influenced dishes with a Latin nod. "I think it's going to be really clever and fun to see how chefs are combining the Latin heritage of things with these Asian flavors," Chang adds.

The event kicks off on November 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Raleigh Hotel. Tickets run $88 for general admission and $125 for VIP. VIP access is from 7 to 8 p.m. and provides all-evening access to the VIP Chefs Lounge. You can score tickets on the Luckyrice website.
