Lokal is one of the busiest neighborhood joints for a burger and a brew in Miami, but even hard-core fans of Matt Kuscher's locally driven joint might opt for eggs and a mimosa on a weekend morning.

Which is precisely the reason for Lokal's "Before One Brunch," served Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting August 2. Kuscher, along with Lokal's chef, Spider, is serving brunchy goodness with an added benefit: Ingredients are sourced locally from farms throughout Florida, including the cage-free eggs found in the scrambles and omelets.

Brunch items include butterscotch banana French toast ($12). Three slices of pecan-and-banana-topped challah are served with a homemade butterscotch sauce.

Eggs Benedict BBQ ($12) features grilled Canadian bacon plus pulled barbecue chicken over poached eggs and avocado that's all slathered with Hollandaise sauce and a touch of Branford's habanero salt (direct from Hialeah).

Smoked salmon scramble ($12) features salmon smoked in-house, free-range eggs from Cowart Ranch, whipped cream cheese, and crisp salmon skin. A lighter, vegetarian-friendly option ($12), the veggie black bean tacos feature black beans, guacamole, and salsa served with a cup of fruit and a shot of OJ.

Other items include avocado fries ($6), fried local avocados served with creamy garlic and sriracha; homemade guava pop-tarts dusted with Froot Loops ($3.50 each); Miami smokers bacon ($3); and blue cheese and Proper sausages ($3 each).

If you're waking up from a rough night, the hangover breakfast ($10), served with two eggs, bacon, cut potatoes, cheddar and jack cheeses, jalapeños, guacamole, sour cream, and sriracha ketchup might wake you from your alcohol-induced coma. Or opt for the redneck breakfast sandwich ($11), stacked with fried eggs, Canadian bacon, avocados, and jack cheese and served with fries and a can of PBR.

Beverages include a strawberry orange mimosa ($8), a red-eye bloody mary with Old Bay rum ($7), cold-press Panther coffee ($4), and, of course, a large selection of beers.

Added benefit: Brunch is available for both you and your best friend. We're not talking about the person you went to college with; we're talking about your real best friend: your dog. Lokal, always known as a dog-friendly spot where you and your pooch can enjoy a beer on the patio, is offering a special "doggy breakfast" of smoked salmon and brown rice ($5), so you don't have to look down at drooling puppy chops while you're enjoying your meal.
