Inaugural Bacon Beach Bash: Bikini Bods and Bacon Grease at Nikki Beach

In a city obsessed with appearances as much as pork, it was only a matter of time before someone thought to put the two together. The inaugural Bacon Beach Bash will take place this Saturday, July 5, as part of 'Murica's birthday celebration at Nikki Beach. Because if there's one thing Americans like more than taking a bite out of a burger and washing it down with some beer, it's a slab of bacon on said burger.

A tie-in with the famed IndepenDance pool and beach parties, Bacon Beach comes with a side of uhntz-uhntz. You can dance and burn off the grease while sporting your teeny-weeny bikini or Euro trunks, bro.

Bacon Beach Bash will leave no pig behind. Emi Guerra, 2014's best nightlife impresario and the man behind AMPM, has joined forces with the team behind Eats & Beats to present Bacon Beach and pay tribute to the beloved salty strip of all that is right and wrong with America.

"We wanted to produce an event that we feel passionate about, and bacon is something I loved since I was a kid," Guerra says. "I had bacon this morning, by the way, so I still love bacon."

As far as what you'll be eating -- oh, just more than 50 dishes employing the cured pig meat. Expect snacks such as bacon-stuffed mushrooms, beer candied bacon, bacon deviled eggs, bacon-wrapped goat cheese balls, and appetizers (not the same as snacks) like bacon gazpacho (wut?) bacon corn chowder (because everyone wants this when it's nearing 100 degrees), bacon foie gras, and bacon crabcakes. Watching your figure? There'll be greens and salads too, with bacon of course. Enjoy a caeser "au bacon," asparagus-wrapped bacon, and artichoke hearts with bacon dressing. If you prefer seafood, try some shrimp and scallops, also wrapped in bacon.

Fourth of July favorites marry American classics with the B-word: bacon lasagna, bacon mac 'n' cheese, bacon ketchup, bacon mayonnaise, and bacon hot sauce -- all at your disposal at Nikki Beach Saturday.

If you already purchased a tenth-annual IndepenDance ticket, you are free to get your bacon on. On the flip side, buy your ticket to Bacon Beach and enjoy sounds by David Tort, LA Riots, David Solano, Damaged Goods, Paul E, and others. Tickets costs $25 before 2 p.m. or $35 after.

"The venue is large and diverse enough where there can be both a great culinary experience and party at the same time," Guerra said. "Our team sees this as an event we can nurture and grow year after year and hopefully something people look forward to as the summer approaches."

Have your cake bacon and eat it too at the dessert station, where you can indulge in bacon brownies, bacon cupcakes, bacon waffles, chocolate-covered bacon, and Nutella, banana, and bacon crepes. Or you can keep things traditional with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich -- and put some bacon on it.

Tickets to the inaugural Bacon Beach Fest are available through wantickets.com.
