How to Make a "Homemade" Gingerbread House

​For many the thought of making a gingerbread house is daunting. You gotta bake and make 10 things before you can even get close to the fun assembly (i.e. finger lickin' icing and eating gum drops) part.

Forget that. All you really need are a few ingredients, which will run you about $10 and include: marshmallows, graham crackers, gummy decorations (I used worms and bears) and cake icing. Follow these five easy steps and you'll have a Ginger-Hooverville in ten minutes.

1. Make the foundation.
Stick two (un-divided) graham crackers to a plate with some icing. Icing will act as the glue for this creation. Make sure to add icing where the crackers separate to form a solid base. This will make it easier to add the walls.

2. Add the walls.
When you're adding the walls, make sure to add plenty of icing on either side of it to make sure it sticks. Don't worry if it's not looking too pretty because it can be smoothed out later.

3. The roof.
Next you'll want to make a flat surface to cover up the top. You do this by sticking two more graham crackers on top, with loads of icing. You should have something now that looks box-shaped. Next, stick on two more un-divided crackers together to form the roof. Ice it all to make it stay, and don't be afraid to shove in some marshmallows for support.

4. Smoothing and decoration prep.
Now you can begin adding and smoothing icing all over the structure to fill in gaps, and perfect your house however you please. Almost done guys.

5. Decorate.
Add whatever you like to customize your candy crib.

If you're feeling really lazy, Publix sells pre-made gingerbread houses for $7. It comes with the house already assembled, and tons of decorations to use. I made one of those too, just for fun.
