Short Order first heard buzz that Zakarian was going to be involved in the Dream South Beach back in March, but rumors were never confirmed. An email to Zakarian's PR rep at that time yielded the message, "Nothing to report as of now."
Two classifieds have just appeared on Craigslist calling for all FOH and BOH positions for Dream South Beach's food and beverage program, helmed by none other than Geoffrey Zakarian. An open call runs from tomorrow, April 15, through Tuesday April 19, bringing some good jobs to the beach. Positions range from stewards and baristas to bakers and a sous chef.
Chef Zakarian is no stranger to South Beach. In 1995, he opened Blue Door at the Delano Hotel, among the first big restaurant opening on the beach in years. He's also worked at two of New York's most famous kitchens, Le Cirque and "21."
Zakarian is the executive chef at Atlantic City's The Water Club and New York's The Lambs Club and finds time to be a judge on the Food Network's Chopped. The chef/restaurateur plans to be very "hands on" at all his restaurants, splitting his time between New York City and Miami.
The Dream South Beach is scheduled to open in early June, taking over both the Tudor Hotel and Palmer House properties on 11th and Collins.
