The Fresh Market is putting the finishing touches on its new Palmetto Bay location. The free-standing store will be located on U.S. 1 on an out parcel of the Falls shopping center, which itself is in the process of a remodel that includes several new restaurants.

The brand-new market is scheduled to open in late August 2012. A recent visit to the store showed the meat and seafood departments already in place, with the smell of fresh paint and plaster in the air.

The store will provide not only an additional shopping option for the area, but also jobs for the community. The Fresh Market plans to hire 80 to 90 employees for the new location in a one-day hiring blitz.

The Fresh Market is holding a career fair at the Miami Marriott Dadeland Hotel (9090 S. Dadeland Blvd., Pinecrest) tomorrow, July 18, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The chain is looking for all positions and shifts -- from bakers and meat cutters to assistant managers. Positions include:

  • Assistant front-end manager

  • Assistant produce manager

  • Assistant deli manager

  • Grocery specialist

  • Bulk specialist

  • Meat cutter

  • Gift/floral specialist

  • Baker

  • Seafood specialist

  • Candy/coffee specialist

  • Assistant grocery specialist

All candidates must apply at thefreshmarket.com/careers using the code "140" before attending the job fair.
