Support the independent voice of Miami and help keep the future of New Times free.

This Friday, from 7 a.m. until 10 p.m., IHOP will be giving away free scary face pancakes to all kids 12 and under. It's part of a national No Tricks - Just Treats program aimed at, um, bringing attention to IHOP -- as well as shining a light on Children's Miracle Network Hospital "Balloons" will be available for $1, the money going towards CMNH's admirable goal of helping fund children's hospitals.

The oversized pancake handed out will be replete with strawberry nose and whipped dairy eye sockets and lips. Two mini-Oreos and kernels of candy corn will be the tools with which your young one can create a Picasso-like masterpiece. But the important thing to remember here is that a free pancake is a free pancake. If you've raised your children properly, maybe they'll even give you a bite.

Keep Miami New Times Free... Since we started Miami New Times, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Miami, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Miami with no paywalls.
