Bunnie Cakes Opening at Aventura Mall

It's been two and a half years since Bunnie Cakes broke ground in Wynwood as Miami's first vegan, gluten-free, and kosher bakery.

Now, owner Mariana Cortez and her team are launching a second location at Aventura Mall. It's scheduled to open Saturday, August 1.

Why Aventura? It was meant to be, says cupcake queen Cortez. "I reached out to the Aventura Mall like six months ago," she explains. "They didn't have any spaces available at that time, but they loved our product and took all my information. There was a tenant leaving July 1, and they basically called me in June and told me they had a space if we were interested. It was surreal because we have been looking forever for the next location, and we always said that the best location for our second store was in Aventura."

The Wynwood store also has a lot of customers who've been clamoring for a store in that area, Cortez says. The new locale will sell all the sweets, including large and small cupcakes, whoopie pies, doughnuts, small cakes, brownies, cakes in a jar, and cookies. It'll also offer coffee, tea, water, and natural sodas, plus a few tables where customers can sit.

The new spot will be located directly across from the mall's Rainbow Valley playground, a prime location for families with kids.

As far as decor, it'll reflect quintessential Bunnie Cakes style, with decorative flair created by Cortez.

"I'm working right now with a contractor and doing all the details for the decorations because I love to do that," Cortez says. "I wanted to have the same feeling that we have in Wynwood, which is very cute and pleasant. When people enter the store, the first thing they say is, 'Oh my gosh, this is so cute!'"

Think hearts, rainbows, and clouds. 

And on opening day, all customers will receive a free cupcake with purchase from 3 to 6 p.m.

In the future, they'll be "opening more Bunnie Cakes for sure," Cortez says, because you can never have too many compassionate cupcakes.

Bunnie Cakes opens Saturday, August 1, at Aventura Mall, 19501 Biscayne Blvd., across from the Rainbow Valley playground.
