Bracha, Swine, and Sweetness: Three New Brunches to Try This Weekend

Miami can never have enough brunch options. Ever. Because who doesn't live for the buzzed bantering of a weekend afternoon with BFFs? Pair that with fattening foods and it's the high point of our week.

Luckily, the brunch choices just keep coming. Three local hotspots have recently introduced new breakfast/lunch/best-meal-ever menus, so you have even more selections for the weekend ahead.

Oak Tavern

David Bracha's Design District newbie is now open Sundays from 10:30 a.m. till 2:30 p.m. for cocktails and cuisine. They're serving bloody marys ($9), mimosas ($10), and peach bellinis ($10), plus dishes such as coconut crusted French toast with rum caramel, chocolate chunk, and caramelized bananas ($11); fried chicken 'n' waffles with gravy, maple hot sauce, and slaw ($16); and the Middle Eastern shakshuka -- wood-oven-baked eggs, tomato stew, and sheep's-milk feta with a side of grilled bread ($12).

50 Egg's newest pork-centric success, Swine is now serving a full menu of meaty morning options from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the weekends. Offerings include kale salad with cheddar cheese, apples, moonshine raisins, cornbread croutons, and cider vinegar ($13); a Swine grilled cheese with Gruyère, aged Virginia cheddar, sharp cheddar, tomato, thick-cut house-smoked bacon, and red-wine apple jam ($14); and pulled pork 'n eggs with organic farm eggs, smoked and pulled pork, and stone-ground grits ($16) -- plus chicken 'n' waffles, blueberry pancakes, sticky buns, and lots of other Southern indulgences.

Sweetness Bakeshop & Cafe

Popular Miami sweet shop and café Sweetness just added a brunch lineup to its already-extensive offerings. Beginning Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Sunset locale will serve an assortment of inexpensive brunch dishes. Options include red velvet pancakes with chocolate chips topped with whipped cream cheese and Jack Daniel's maple syrup ($5.99); a breakfast slider served on potato bread topped with a fried egg, applewood-smoked bacon, and mini hash browns and home fries ($5.99); and a G.O.A.T. grilled cheese with Havarti, fontina, and mozzarella melted with tomato and a drizzle of honey ($5.99). Mimosas ($6) and beer sangria ($7) will be available too.

Hey, nobody said this was diet food. But how else can you drown your prework Sunday sorrows than with comfort food and cocktails?
