Bike and Eat With Emerge Miami's Critical Mass Food Truck Frenzy

Get your bike ready and head out to Brickell Metrorail station (1001 SW First Avenue) on January 8 for a food truck crawl. This month's Critical Mass, organized by Emerge Miami, will take bikers for a taste of five local food trucks.

Departing at 10 a.m., bikers will stop at Latin Burger & Taco, Jefe's Original Fish Taco & Burger, Feverish Ice Cream, Miso Hungry and Sugar Rush.

This isn't the first bike ride tied to food. Last summer, Emerge organized a sweet treats ride that took bikers around several local bakeries.

Stephanie Cornejo, organizer for Emerge, said these events are a way to get people to support local eateries instead of the chains that are all too common in Miami. It's also a way to encourage people to ride their bikes to local restaurants. Emerge is already planning a "tour de taco" ride in the coming months and Cornejo says there will be more events to bike and eat.

Saturday's ride is medium-to-slow paced so bikers of all levels are welcome. You pay for what you consume so make sure you bring cash.
