A Passage to India, a month long pop-up, premiered last evening at the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove. The special event turns the hotel's restaurant into an Indian dining hall every Thursday through Sunday from 6 to 10 p.m. from October 3 to November 3.

The pop-up transforms the luxury hotel's Bizcaya restaurant into a lush, colorful environment filled with lanterns and drapes in rich peacock hues of blues and greens. Indian music and a screen showing Bollywood films complete the decor. On select evenings, A Passage to India will host Bollywood fashion shows and live music.

Executive chef Ramesh Kaduru's cuisine is inspired by the flavors and culture of his hometown of Chennai and the a la carte menu features both favorites like chicken tikka and samosas, and inventive dishes like the lamb rogan josh, made with browned onions, Kashmiri chilies and yogurt sauce. And, of course, there are many vegetarian options available.

Short Order was invited to a sneak peek of the pop-up, where we were greeted by camels and treated to a true Bollywood moment.
