The fish, mahi, is fresh as a snap. The double-decker bread is carefully griddled. Lettuce and ripe tomatoes are slipped into the mix, as is a relish culled of capers and citrus. A side of fries or simple salad of greens comes along. Price is $14. You can nab this gem for lunch at Area 31, which these days is helmed by Chef E. Michael Reidt (you may remember his talents from Wish Restaurant circa 2001).

Starting today, Monday, May 16, Chef Reidt debuts the 16.16 Power Lunch. Available from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the daily special offers patrons vegetarian-based soup or salad; choice of some half-dozen sandwiches (including the mahi); and a freshly baked cookie. 16.16? Price is $16 and the restaurant is situated on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel. Plus they promise to get you in and out within an hour so you can get back to work.
