Miami's Best Eats and Drinks This Week: Beer and Ice Cream, Genuine Pizza Party, and Craft Brew Week

This week, celebrate American Craft Brew Week with an ice cream and beer pairing event at Concrete Beach Brewery, and a seven-course dinner at Doce Provisions with Veza Sur Brewing Co. Plus, Pinch Kitchen will host the first-ever Kitchen Scrap chef battle, and James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Schwartz will launch his latest cookbook, "Genuine Pizza: Better Pizza at Home," with a food-filled party.

Kitchen Scrap: Pork Brawl at Pinch Kitchen. Join TouchBistro for the inaugural Kitchen Scrap, a chef battle series highlighting some of America’s most talented chefs and celebrated restaurants. The series debut will see chef John Gallo of Pinch Kitchen compete against chef Deme Lomas of Arson and NIU Kitchen in a pork brawl. Begin with a tasting of passed canapes, such as fried oysters with kimchi vinaigrette, yuca espuma, and grilled wild red shrimp with mojo. Genuine Pizza Garden Party at Michael's Genuine Food & Drink. Chef, restaurateur, and author Michael Schwartz will debut his latest cookbook with a garden party inside his namesake eatery in the Miami Design District. The evening will feature recipes from Schwartz's Genuine Pizza: Better Pizza at Home as well as salads and entrées, cocktails, and wine and beer. Highlights include polenta fries with spicy ketchup, lollipop chicken wings with rosemary crema, ricotta crostinis, roasted chicken with salsa verde, zeppoles with honey whipped ricotta, and panna cotta with strawberry basil compote. Snail Social Roaming Happy Hour at the Generator. This month's Snail Social will be hosted by the newest Snail of Approval honoree, Daniel Roy, executive chef of Generator Hostel Miami Beach. The monthly series raises awareness and supports clean and local food as well as community farmers. The first hour of the event will be hosted at Driftway, the property’s poolside bar and restaurant. Sip local beer or espresso martinis, paired with burrata crostinis and pork tacos. Cellar 1954 Wine Dinner at Hakkasan. Continuing the Fontainebleau Miami Beach's Cellar 1954 wine series, a multicourse dinner at Hakkasan will feature Gaston Chiquet and Pierre Gimmonet Gastronome champagnes. Dinner will feature various courses highlighting traditional Cantonese cuisine, with a different pour of champagne with each plate. 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, at Hakkasan, 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 877-326-7412; fontainebleau.com. The Citadel
The Rooftop Summer Series at the Citadel. Wednesday, the Citadel will launch its Rooftop Summer Series, which will include an ongoing rotation of live music, DJs, health and wellness classes, and family-friendly events. With it, the Citadel is kicking off Rooftop Sessions, a weekly live music series. This week, expect music by Chad Bernstein. As you listen, grab a drink from the bar, which will offer beers, a wide-ranging wine list, and cocktails. Celebrate American Craft Beer Week with a seven-course beer pairing dinner at Doce Provisions with suds from Wynwood's Veza Sur Brewing Co. Expect some of Doce's best-selling plates, served on the restaurant's tropical patio with a selection of brews from Veza. Calling all beer lovers with a sweet tooth: Swing by Concrete Beach Brewery for a one-time-only ice cream and beer pairing, where you'll sample four cups of ice cream with four different four-ounce beers. The folks at Matador Room are pairing spring pea pizza topped with smoked mozzarella, pickled chiles, and mint with the hotel's new craft beer, Iguanita, which is produced by Miami's Biscayne Bay Brewing. Plus, expect Absolut Elyx pineapple cocktails. The event is part of the restaurant's monthly Pineapples & Pizza series, which offers live music and off-menu pairings of exotic pizzas and specialty cocktails. 9 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at 2901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 786-257-4600; matadorroom.com.
