It seems like only yesterday that Bar Lab's Elad Zvi and Gabriel Orta opened Miami Beach's first pop-up cocktail lounge, the Broken Shaker. The intent was to bring custom cocktails with designer ice, herbs from the patio garden, and fresh ingredients to show Miamians there is a vast world outside the Grey-Goose-and-Red-Bull bubble.

With the clock counting down until Broken Shaker's final last call on May 24, the only thing left to do is party. And that they will. Starting Sunday, May 20, the Shaker will host a series of parties and events as a way to say thank you to customers.

"It's been a great experience," Broken Shaker partner Gabriel Orta told Short Order. He said that after being in Miami for 20 years, he's finding a real sense of community growing in the restaurant and bar scene. "Both industry people and people who just want a good cocktail have embraced us and it feels good."

In case you're wondering what's next for Zvi and Orta, the duo have plans to summer in New York City, where they'll bring the Broken Shaker pop-up concept to a bar in either the West Village or Lower East Side. Then, it's back to Miami, where plans are in the works to open a permanent bar by September. Though Orta said they've got a location in mind, he wouldn't divulge the neighborhood yet.

In the meantime, check out the schedule of closing week parties. And don't forget to raise a glass to the bartenders, wishing them a speedy return to Miami!
