Table 8 Restaurateur Joshua Woodward Arraigned on Murder Charges

After nearly three years of investigation, restaurateur Joshua Woodward was arraigned yesterday on four counts of "attempted, willful and premeditated murder after he allegedly tried to induce a miscarriage of his then-girlfriend in 2009," according to an announcement by the Los Angeles District Attorney.

Woodward, former co-owner of Table 8 and 8oz. Burger Bar restaurants in Miami and Los Angeles, surrendered himself to Superior Court Judge Shelly Torrealba and pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $4 million and a bail review hearing is scheduled.

Still a Florida resident, Woodward is charged with trying to induce a miscarriage on four separate occasions between September 15, 2009 and October 25, 2009, by using the drug misoprostol. Misoprostol is used in the medical community to induce labor and terminate early state pregnancies. According to earlier reports, the fetus was 13 weeks old when it died.

If convicted, Woodward faces life in prison.

Woodward is a former partner of celebrity chef Govind Armstrong. Together, they brought their Table 8 and 8 oz. Burger Bar concepts to Miami from Los Angeles. Table 8 closed and Woodward does not have any current financial or working relationship with either Miami 8 oz. Burger Bar location.

Updated: Short Order has learned that Joshua Woodward recently married Ocean Drive editor-in-chief Suzanne Buckley.  According to official records, the marriage took place in Miami-Dade county on August 31, 2012.
