Sushi Central Lounge, which recently opened on the third floor of Cocowalk, is part of the ongoing trend of new restaurants and lounges bringing life back to Coconut Grove.

Sushi Central Lounge is located next door to the Paragon Grove 13 Movie Theatre, and diners can take advantage of a $45 "Dinner and a Movie" special, which includes any two appetizers, any two signature sushi rolls and two movie tickets. No advance purchase is required and the offer is good any day, including weekends, until November.

Other specials include a daily happy hour from 4 to 9 p.m. with $5 margaritas, $7 martinis and half-priced mixed drinks and a Tuesday evening sushi and champagne night.

Sushi Central Lounge is a large grey room with bright accents. Red curtains and Britto-esque butterfly portraits adorn the space, which is broken up into smaller lounge areas and banquettes, perfect for sipping cocktails and sharing their signature rolls and appetizers.

We were invited to sample some sushi rolls and salads and found them fresh and light, a good choice for the upcoming summer months when the heat and humidity makes the thought of having a heavy meal unappetizing. The sushi was paired with a margarita infused with jalapenos, the heat of the pepper blending nicely with the sweetness of the cocktail.

Sushi Central also plans to open a tequila lounge, featuring 200 different tequilas. Latin-inspired rolls are also in the works. Sushi Central's kitchen is open from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and until 1 a.m. Thursday to Saturday. The bar serves until 3 a.m.
