The second annual South Florida Beer Week returns January 19-26, officially casting away any doubt that Miami has a thriving craft beer scene.
The brew-filled week features events scattered throughout south Florida, from Miami all the way north to Jupiter, where Beer Week's two main festivals will be held at Roger Dean Stadium, the Field of Beers festival on January 25 and the Jupiter Craft Brewers festival on January 26.
Though that's a schlep from Miami, especially when factoring in beer
consumption, serious beer aficionados might want to drive up for the
weekend.
The good news for Miami is that there are beer tastings
and events right in our area -- and the event list promises to grow,
with new parties and tastings still being added.

Each event, including tap takeovers at bars, dinners, tastings, crawls, and classes, will spotlight Florida brews. Though the tap list for 2013 hasn't been announced yet, expect to taste beers from Jacksonville's Green Room Brewery, makers of Helles Yeah, Head High IPA and Undertow Barleywine.
Lineup of Miami events announced so far are:
January 19
"Pigs & Pitchers" beer week kick-off party at Front Porch Cafe. Cuban-style pig roast from executive chef Todd Webster with beer. $30 gets you unlimited piggy goodnes and a pitcher of local brew on tap.
Ticket info to be announced.
January 21
