New Times recently got a sneak peek at Wynwood's latest microbrewery. I know what you're thinking: Another artisanal beer company setting up shop in Miami's graffiti-covered arts district? Yes, located steps from Wynwood Brewery, Concrete Beach is the latest but hopefully not the last craft-beer-maker Miami will have the honor of hosting.

A gas generator gently growled outside to power the entire establishment during our preview, so it'll be a while before Concrete Beach is fully operational. The new digs feature a full-service brewery with an expansive taproom where the owners plan to serve more than just craft beer.

Live music, open-mike nights, and even small bites will be offered in what they're calling the brewery's "social room." Apart from the interior space, Concrete Beach is also setting up a comfortable patio for lounging with your buddies on those cool Miami winter nights.

But forget the digs; let's move on to the main attraction, the booze. OK, though their in-house brew is not ready, they did have samples of two recipes they're planning to feature. Their Rica, the house IPA, is a hoppy wheat ale with light grapefruit aromas. The Stiltsville is their European-style Pilsner, loaded with hops and named for the renegade village in Biscayne Bay.

So when will you get to sample Concrete Beach's offerings? According to the staff, the brewery should be fully operational in the fall. They plan to bottle and distribute their products to local restaurants and already have a deal with Publix. The social room is another story; they plan to unveiling it closer to December.
