Shuckers, the beloved waterfront grill, is set to reopen as early as next month.
The restaurant was forced to close last year after its deck collapsed during an NBA playoffs game, sending dozens of patrons into Biscayne Bay. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Capt. Eugene Germain Jr., at least two dozen people were injured, and 15 people had to be transported to local hospitals.

Now the restaurant is on the verge of reopening, with Shuckers posting the following pictures on Facebook:
The restaurant, which is located inside the Best Western On the Bay Inn and Marina on the 79th Street Causeway, is getting a major facelift, including a new deck. According to WSVN, the deck is constructed of steel, with heavy concrete beams reinforced with metal rods. The old deck was made mostly of wood.
A visit to the site showed the restaurant's deck near completion, with chairs and tables ready for setup.
A large crane on the marina is still there, signaling some work may still be in progress. An employee at the adjacent hotel told Short Order that Shuckers could open as early as July.
Shuckers Waterfront Grill opened in 1989 and became a favorite for its low prices, solid food, multiple TV sets, and an amazing view of Biscayne Bay from its outdoor deck.
