Iconic Manhattan ice-cream restaurant and celebrity hot spot Serendipity 3 is scheduled to open in South Beach, bringing Frrrozen Hot Chocolate and sundaes priced like mortgage payments to the rich and beautiful of South Florida.

Serendipity 3 has launched into a licensing program with Alloy Entertainment. The company plans to expand into confections, health and beauty (hot chocolate bubble bath, perhaps?), publishing, kitchenware, and desserts.

The agreement also allows for the expansion of the restaurant to Miami,

Dubai, China and Singapore. Serendipity 3 already has locations in Las

Vegas, Washington D.C.,and Boca Raton (in the Boca Raton Resort and Country Club).

A

call to the company's headquarters confirmed that plans are in the

works to open on Lincoln Road, but we were told the ink wasn't dry on

the lease agreement. Speculation is that Serendipity will occupy space

on the westernmost part of the pedestrian mall, near Banana Republic.

We found a Craigslist ad stating:

Serendipity 3 restaurant

Must have at least three years experience. Chefs, Line Cooks,

Dishwashers, Managers, Office Manager, Servers, Bartenders, Hostess,

Expediters, Food Runners, Bus Boys, Must be fluent in English.

Hospitality and a smile first is a must. Please send resume or info to

[email protected].

Serendipity 3 opened in New York in

1954. Frequent celebrity customers included Marilyn Monroe, Jackie

Kennedy Onassis, and Andy Warhol, who showed some of his first works at

the cafe.

Modern day celebs who nosh on hot dogs, burgers, and

sundaes include Beyoncé, Cher and Katie Holmes (who recently was seen

giving daughter Suri penis gummy candies at the restaurant). A 2001 romantic comedy starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale, titled Serendipity, centered around the restaurant.

Serendipity 3 is famous for their trademarked Frrrozen Hot Chocolate

and over-the-top desserts, like the Pirate's Treasure Chest ($75), a

chocolate treasure chest filled with ice cream and the Golden Opulence

Sundae ($1,000), which contains five scoops of exotic ice cream decorated with edible 24-karat gold leaf. Sounds like a perfect match for SoBe!
